Tips:
A
client of mine taught me this "rule of aerobics" that
works well for people who exercise with others. "You should
be able to talk, but not sing." This rule will most likely
keep you in an aerobic range while working out.
For
more info see the Q&A section.

Vary
the type of cardio exercise you get, especially if you are doing
it to lose a major amount of weight. It will help you avoid plateaus,
and avoid repetitive motion strain!

When
weight training, do 1-3 sets of and exercise for 8-25 repetitions.
If you can perform less than eight repetitions, lighten it up
slightly. If you can perform more than 25 reps, it's too light.
ALWAYS use good form!
Remember
that you MUST fatigue the muscle to see results!

Keep
a food journal for 2 weeks! After two weeks, look for patterns
that may be affecting your energy level negatively or positively.
Anyone
can make an improvement in their health by adopting a change as
simple as walking or swimming for 20 minutes, and making a modest
attempt at eating healthier.
Try it 3-5X for 2 weeks and see for yourself!

Testimonials:
"I
have been a personal trainer with B**** T**** F****** for over
two years. In addition to servicing my own clients I have been
responsible for helping our new trainers polish their skills.
I have worked with many trainers but Maria Callahan stands out.
She became a trainer after having been a client herself and losing
a substantial amount of weight. Maria was always open to new ideas
and equally enthusiastic in sharing her skills. Her personal success
was an inspiration to her clients. Maria is not only a competent
trainer but also a very compassionate trainer who is committed
to the success of her clients." -J.B

"Please
allow me to introduce and recommend Maria Callahan as an excellent
personal trainer. Her talent is to inspire, motivate and assist
in implementing great personal change in her clients. She listens
to her clients intuitively and I have always felt certain that
my goals were her goals. She is interested in and relates well
to clients of diverse backgrounds and circumstances." -G.D.

"An
athlete in my youth, my 40's saw my sedentary lifestyle begin
to take effect. I have now been training with Maria three times
each week for one year and have met my original goals, set new
ones, and met those as well. My initial reason for seeking personal
training was overall health, fitness and stress management. In
just a few weeks, I had greater; more sustained energy during
the day, and was sleeping more soundly at night. My day-to-day
worries bothered me much less. As time went by, I began to lose
weight and my goals became more centered on that outcome. After
one year, I have lost 35 lbs and six sizes. I have become aware
of the importance of stretching and body work to personal health
and well-being. Maria's willingness to utilize assisted stretching
techniques has been an unexpected and welcome addition to our
workouts. Fitness is once again an integral part of my lifestyle
and for that, I am eternally grateful to Maria. I plan to continue
to work with her on an intermittent basis to assess my progress,
modify my routine, and take advantage of her incredible energy
and skill in keeping me motivated. I highly recommend Maria as
a personal trainer. She brings a unique set of skills and interests
to the area of personal fitness." -P.R.
